BlockCAD - A CAD Tool for Lego

December 29th, 2006

As an engineer, when it comes to practical designing, CAD tools are your best friend, allowing you to visualize and simulate your design before you actually put your design into production. However, with a lifelong job in engineering, there will eventually come a day when you finally get sick of loading AutoCAD or Spice Simulation tools every single day at work. Aren’t there any CAD tools out there that are actually fun to use and that you won’t get tired of?

Well, you’re in luck today! Introducing to you today is BlockCAD, a free downloadable CAD software to help you design your lego projects so that you can estimate how many pieces of each part you need to finish your miniature lego Great Wall of China or Statue of Liberty. Show them that Lego isn’t just for kids aged 6-12.

Capture the Flag Toronto 2006

December 23rd, 2006

Apparently, a lot of interesting events happen around Toronto in which I weren’t aware of before. In addition to the previously posted Toronto Zombie March that happens around Halloween every year, a city wide Capture the Flag Tournament was also held in September earlier this year.
Organized by the people at NewMindSpace, Capture the Flag 2006 had over a whopping 1000 participants joining the event, making it one of the largest real life CTF games ever (imagine 1000 players playing CTF on Quake… chaos!). Happening in the heart of downtown Toronto, there are more than enough empty space for you to run about and hide your flags.
See more of the event in the video below.

A Song for Programmers (Chinese)

December 16th, 2006

I guess this song more or less summarizes the story of all computer science students. The ‘Windows must be terminated’ part was especially hilarious. As an additional note, this song was actually parodied from a hit by the cutest Taiwanese idol ever - Rainie Yang! You can check out the music video of the original song here.
