Capture the Flag Toronto 2006

December 23rd, 2006

Apparently, a lot of interesting events happen around Toronto in which I weren’t aware of before. In addition to the previously posted Toronto Zombie March that happens around Halloween every year, a city wide Capture the Flag Tournament was also held in September earlier this year.
Organized by the people at NewMindSpace, Capture the Flag 2006 had over a whopping 1000 participants joining the event, making it one of the largest real life CTF games ever (imagine 1000 players playing CTF on Quake… chaos!). Happening in the heart of downtown Toronto, there are more than enough empty space for you to run about and hide your flags.
See more of the event in the video below.

Nintendo Wiimote Accessories

November 22nd, 2006

Zelda Wiimote Master Sword and Hyrulean ShieldWiimote Pilot ControllerWiimote Golf Club, Steering Wheel and Tennis Racket

With the Nintendo Wii officially in stores for only three days, a lot of accessories for the game console’s interactive controller - the Wiimote, have already surfaced on the internet. The fun factor of using the Wiimote controller as golf clubs, tennis rackets, swords or bowling balls when playing their launch titles such as Wii Sports or Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess is already enough on its own to keep you happy for a while. However, playing these games with the feeling of actually having a tennis racket, a real golf club or the actual Zelda Master Sword and Hyrulean Shield in your palms, makes all the difference between playing the game, and being part of it!!!

So far, the Nintendo Wii is still looking much more promising than the PlayStation 3 whether in terms of pricing or fun. Now all we need is a rifle, a fishing rod and a light sabre wiimote accessory…

Ultimate Online Sudoku Combat

October 29th, 2006

You might think that you’re the ace at sudoku, now that you can complete all the daily sudoku puzzles in the news. But just wait until you compete with others online on this logic game that swept the globe away.

Introducing to you here today is what I would describe as the ultimate online sudoku platform. While the Online Sudoku Championship 2006 offers traditional single player puzzles, what makes it shines is its multiplayer feature. In a multiplayer game of 2-4 players, all of the players will be shown the exact same grid, and whenever a square is filled in correctly by any player, it will be revealed to all other players as well. The objective of the game is then to compete with your opponents to try to fill up as many unfilled squares as possible before your opponent does, but beware, marks will be removed for wrong numbers as well! So by taking sudoku the next level, you are no longer just challenging yourself to completing the puzzle, you are seeing how fast your brain functions compared with other sudoku solvers like you.

If you’ve never solved a sudoku puzzle before in your life, check out this website to learn how it’s done. Even if you have math-phobia, do not worry since sudoku has absolutely no maths involved at all, even though you might panic with all the numbers.
